Prix des Musiques d’ICI – Diaspora Music Awards
A necessary award to promote regional artists from the diasporas, artists who re-invent, with other musicians, musics of the moment !

Some artists can fill the largest venues of France without ever having their names quoted on the national radios. Others may be performing every week in the back-room of many bars without being supported by a producer. What they have in common is worth one thousand time more than the support of the media or the record companies : an audience.
In a vertiginous mirror effect, large cultural communities identify with them. Whether they define themselves as haitian, congolese, kabyle, portuguese or polish, or britton or basque, these groups are in the same way concerned with and are a part of our society, just as, for example, groups of football supporters or ballets’ fans.
The tunes which unite them are most of the time « musics from here », « des musiques d’ICI », come from far away but had grown in the shadow of suburbs.
A patient detection throughout France is set up to highlight them. A large range of artists from a diaspora can be then selected. The winners get a concert in Paris, a nice media coverage, an artistic guidance residency and a national tour. And maybe one day, their name will be around on national radio and television.
